Sustainability creates higher cacao yield for Cargill

ACCRA - Cargill has revealed some very impressive results of its sustainability project Cacao Promise Plan. The project is a clear example of how sustainability can lead to higher efficiency. The results are truly special and demonstrated not only a 23% increase in cacao yield, but also showed an increase in primary school students and trainings for cacao farmers.

Working alongside the local government and institutions, Cargill is active supporting various sustainability projects. It is also closely involved in educating agricultural businesses to take control of their sustainability agenda and set-up policies. Last year around 90.000 farmers attended the special Farmer Field School; where they received training on how to make their businesses more profitable and sustainable.

The production improved significantly by 23% due to new measures of crop protection and more efficient fertilizing techniques. Around 97% of children who participated in the funded school program in Ghana, remained enrolled for at least 5 years.
