Taste the future

AMSTERDAM - As every year, we start this New Year with a visit to the Horecava food fair, held from January 7 until 10 in exhibition hall RAI in Amsterdam. The organisation promises to excite our senses and given earlier experiences we tend to believe this …

One of the highlights is the Start-upLab, where new start-ups meet experienced foodservice professionals. 42 start-ups present themselves and surprise us with all kinds of new food, non-food and tech solutions. What about StrawbyStraw (100% organic recyclable straws), Freggies (vegetable snacks produced with use of residual flows from organic juices), Braxzz (alcohol free spirits, ciders and wines) and the Cricketburger (with real crickets of course).

Besides this, there is room for food mobility & delivery, for the hotel world, pop-up bar experiences and for … beer. There are beer workshops, demo’s and tastings and Löwlander and Brewdog make sure that new, innovative beer concepts are presented.

And we meet John Altman. Not a hipster with a beard, but a new ‘love spreading’ snack concept that’s being managed by 2 sisters. They saw too many snacks with unnecessary additives and unhealthy ingredients and decided this should change. So a range of ‘guilt free’ popcorn and nuts was developed, an inventory of their international potential was made and they are ready for their future.

Do you want to start this New Year with a free inventory of your export potential? TEN the export network supports food companies with export and advises in the SIB (Starters International Business) project on behalf of the Dutch government. Dozens of food companies preceded you already. You can find more information on www.theexportnetwork.nl/en or get in touch with us without obligation info@theexportnework.nl.

For whom the daylight experiences in the RAI are not sufficient, you can join the after party in the Reguliersdwarsstraat.
